Jilin University

Founded in 1946 and through 66 years of development and as a result of consecutive merging of six institutions of higher education, Jilin University has been moulded into the largest comprehensive university in China in terms of its student enrollment, which is strongly supported by state key projects such as “211 Project” and “985 Project”.

Offering disciplines covering all the 13 academic categories,including Philosophy, Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Management, Military Science and Arts, with 124 undergraduate , 299 Master’s, 237 doctoral and 41 post-doc programs.

6,568 faculty members, including 2,058 full professors (1,186 doctoral advisors), 24 members of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering(15 adjunct academicians); 68,957 full time students, including over 24,021 in master’s and doctoral programs, over 43,024 in undergraduate programs.

The University Library claims a collection of 6.59 million books; it is designated to be a library of UNESCO, UNIDO and the World Bank. It also serves as the CALIS (China Academic Library & Information System) center in Northeast area of China.

Currently, 2,000 international students from 98 countries study at Jilin University. They take part in 124 programs from 37 colleges, including School of International and Public Affairs, College of Humanities, Norman Bethune College of Medical Science, Economics School, etc. Among those programs, International Relations, Chinese language, World Economy and Diplomacy are most popular among the students.
